Why We Gather

We gather to cultivate wisdom, deepen our inner lives, and support one another in living with greater intention and service.Our practice is rooted in meditation, deep reading, and sincere conversation, drawing from spiritual and wisdom traditions across cultures.

How We Gather

The season
Lumi Crew gathers in seasons. Each season is three months long, and each season we have weekly evening sessions to explore the history and teachings of a spiritual tradition. These traditions include, but are not limited to, Buddhism, Sufism, Spiritual Ecology, Daoism, Kashmir Shaivism.The evening
Each weekly session takes place on Tuesdays at 7:30 PM in South Brooklyn and is 90 minutes long. The first half hour is focused on meditation, the second half hour on discussing the weekly reading, and the last half hour on integration and self reflection.

The first season

The first season will begin in January 2027, and will focus on Buddhism, particularly the history of Buddhism, and depending on pacing, a primer on the fundamental concepts of Buddhism.Lumi Crew is entirely volunteer-run and free to join. There are 8 spots available in this first season. To be considered, please fill out this form by October 31st, 2026.We ask that before you fill out this form, you candidly consider your ability to show up weekly on Tuesdays from January 12 to March 16. This is a small group, and every member’s engagement matters. If you are unable to make that commitment at this point in time, please apply for a future season when you are.

Some notes

This is a community-guided learning journey. Certain members will know more than others on certain traditions and topics, and we welcome their insights, but there are no teachers. If you are someone who enjoys arriving at insights through meditation, reading, and discussion, you will enjoy this group. If you are looking for a guide or a lecture or straightforward answers, you will not.Lumi Crew is currently a sprout of a vision - a bit farther along than a seed, but not quite yet a sapling. This first season is largely an experiment, and we invite you to embrace that with us. How we gather will change over time, but why we gather will remain our true north.
